FAQ

When is the best time to fish on Lake Norman?

The best times are fall and spring for crappie and for bass on Lake Norman. Spring is when the bass and crappie pre-spawn. Fall is just as amazing. During the summer, the bite is strongest early in the morning or late in the evening. Winter can also be productive with a quality vertical fishing bite.

Do you guide families and beginners?

Absolutely! We welcome anglers of all experience levels, from kids holding their first fish to seasoned tournament anglers. Coaching is always included, and all tackle is provided.

What should I bring with me?

Please bring a valid North Carolina fishing license, sun protection (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen), drinks and snacks, and a small cooler if you’d like to take fish home. We provide all tackle and gear. We also provide ice and water.

What if the weather is bad?

Safety is always our top priority. If the weather isn’t safe, we’ll reschedule your trip or refund your deposit.

What species do you target?

We focus on crappie, largemouth bass, spotted bass, striped bass, hybrid bass, and catfish on Lake Norman. Each season offers unique opportunities, so there’s always something biting.

Where do we meet for the trip?

We typically meet at convenient public ramps near Mooresville or Huntersville, NC. Exact directions and details are sent after booking to keep things simple for you. Most often we launch from Stumpy Creek Road.

Do you clean the fish we catch?

Yes! At the end of your trip, we’re happy to clean and bag your catch so you can enjoy it fresh at home.

How do I book a trip?

Booking is easy! You can reserve your trip online through our booking page or by calling Captain Frank directly at (321) 689-0445.
